Church Volunteers.
St. Paul's is open to visitors on a daily basis throughout the year (excluding Christmas Day and Good Friday) thanks to a team of volunteers who work 2 hour shifts enabling the church to remain open from 10am until 4pm Mondays through to Saturdays and 12.30pm until 4pm on Sundays.
Volunteer co-ordinator is Carrie Waggot, a sprightly octogenarian, who has been associated with St. Paul's since her youth. In her younger days Carrie was involved with the Guide movement for over 25yrs, first as a Brown Owl with the church Brownie pack, then as a Lieutenant for the Girl Guides. Carrie has always found satisfaction helping to organise events for the community and co-ordinating the church volunteers fits in perfectly with this. "It can be a bit difficult at times finding people to deputise and fill in when other volunteers are on holiday etc., but we usually manage to overcome this" said Carrie, "The voluntary work is very enjoyable as we get to meet visitors from all over the world and I enjoy talking to them, giving them a guided tour and telling them about the history of the church." "It's very worthwhile keeping the church open each day. As well as individuals we also get tours arriving in busloads during the summer months."

Visitors to the church can also take in the museum at Bede's World www.bedesworld.co.uk which is adjacent to the church. Anyone wishing to become a volurteer can give the church a call on 4897052.
